Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking Station (EC-DFLT) Review!

Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking Station (EC-DFLT) Review!

The Military-Grade Unit for Your Storage

The day of age we live in is great and always improving and advancing to something even greater. We have smartphones that are basically high-end laptops in the palm of our hands, tablets that are slimmer and more portable laptops, and even laptops that gives you the best of a smartphone and a laptop.

The only major issue we usually face is SPACE! Since laptops are becoming ultrabooks we are quickly moving from Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) to Solid State Drives (SSDs). The storage is greatly less in a SSD so how do you fix this issue. The simple answer is right in your face with the USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking Station (EC-DFLT) from Sabrent.

What’s in the box?

It’s not the skinniest of it’s family models but it’s one of the most affordable units on the market along with some great accessories within the box.

Where does the Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking Station (EC-DFLT) exceed?

This bad boy is a true beast but extremely simple to use. I tested a similar product to this one from our friends at Unitek except it was produced for customers and consumers that wanted to keep their external storage on their desk and in view (via vertical structure). I use it from time to time nowadays but this very one from Sabrent has changed my views, for now.

The installation of my HDD or SDD is simple since all you have to do is open the enclosure door and slide the external storage inside. Done! The only extra step that I have faced is by removing screws (4x in total) from a HDD but I just slid it into the enclosure to finish the installation process. Done! Lastly, I just plugged the AC adapter into the wall and the USB 3.0 cable into the computer and I was all ready to go in a matter of just a few minutes.

I currently only owned an external HDD at the moment so that’s the only test subject I had for this particular product. Based on test results, I had found that the transfer rates (Read & Write) were 2x as fast than the normal transfer rates of using a USB 2.0 not only in Windows 7 but also in Windows 8 (both 64-bit systems).

Where does the Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking Station (EC-DFLT) lack?

As far as cons, I just don’t the big blocky unit overall. It’s more of a personal con but others, such as yourself, may agree with me on this matter. Otherwise, it’s perfect!

How does the Sabrent USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking Station (EC-DFLT) fit in my life?

Personally, I keep this unit under my desk and connected to my USB hub so I can access extra files whenever I need to – quickly and easily. I currently have a 750 GB HDD installed on my laptop so I just 250 GB of external storage for small backups of important files. The Unitek USB 3.0 to SATA6G Docking Station (Y-1078) has yet to fail me in any way.

Why should you purchase this for yourself?

Extend the amount of storage without buying extra attachments that could cost you as much as your extra HDD, SSD, or accessories. It may be big and bulky but at the end of the day it gets the job done in less time than this competition.
